ANNOUNCING THE METABOLIC APPROACH TO CANCER

Dr Nasha Winters ND, L.Ac., FABNO, and Jess Higgins Kelley, MNT, have written a long awaited groundbreaking book on The Metabolic Approach to Cancer.  The core of their approach is “dedicated to the science of using therapeutic nutrients to positively impact metabolism, creating an inhospitable environment for cancer while simultaneously removing dietary and lifestyle factors that provoke it”.  You will discover the ten key elements of a persons terrain that require optimization that can successfully prevent and manage cancer. Think of your terrain as a garden, Dr Winters  has stated. “Regulating a healthy human biological terrain is similar to raising a healthy thriving garden.”

“A healthy immune system is constantly providing surveillance and destruction of the many cancer cells naturally produced by the body before they have a chance to congregate and form a tumor. Therefore, keeping our immune system healthy is the cornerstone to cancer prevention and management.”

We are thrilled to carry this extremely informative book. Research shows time and time again that cancer is not a one size fits all disease. This books individualized approach to cancer treatments hits the mark.

Does it REALLY matter where you buy your supplements?

Today you can buy almost any supplement online even the professional brands that we carry at Wailea Pharmacy. So why not buy them online? After all, its easy and sometimes less costly.

The simple answer is that you don’t always know what you are getting in terms of ingredient quality, product fillers, and manufacturing & storage

Wailea Pharmacy has the knowledge and experience to know which manufacturers and distributors maintain the highest standards and our customers can rest assured we carry only the highest quality supplements available.

Here are a few key points to consider:

Authenticity.

Some products are actually not what they claim to be. There have been instances where products have been tested and either contain additional ingredients or different ingredients then listed.

Ingredient integrity and potency.

Ever look for the same ingredients in a less expensive brand? There have been instances where some very inexpensive brands have been sent to a lab for testing and were found to contain sub-potent ingredients or a different ingredient altogether.

The professional brands we carry are tested for purity, potency and product integrity before and after they are manufactured.

Product storage.
High quality supplements conduct stability testing to determine how long the product will retain its potency. The way the product is stored is very important as temperature and humidity can make all the difference. Our distributors store and ship products within a well controlled temperature and humidity range to preserve the integrity of the product. Online, well who knows?

Product recall.
In the unlikely event a product is recalled we would be informed  and pass the information along to you whenever possible and post it on our website.
Come in and compare. In most instances our prices are comparable or even less then what you might find online.

Welcome to our new naturopathic physician Dr. Teri Jackson, ND

Naturopathic physician Dr. Teri Jackson, ND has joined Wailea Pharmacy to provide on-site medical care as the pharmacy expands services to include practitioner-based medicine, the pharmacy announced on March 21, 2016

Jackson is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Hawaii. She received her doctorate degree from Bastyr University in Seattle, WA where she previously maintained a private practice before relocating to Maui in 2013.

Jackson is qualified to assess and treat a wide variety of conditions, however her primary clinical focus includes, Digestive Health, Environmental Sensitivities and Allergy, Hormone Optimization, Mental and Emotional Health, and Auto-Immune Conditions.

Jackson is able to order both conventional and alternative labs tests to ensure the most accurate diagnosis possible during the initial consultation; she also can interpret lab results ordered by other practitioners.

Depending on the condition, Jackson assesses her patients’ lifestyle, environmental exposures, possible infections, and genetic susceptibility to illness to create a treatment plan specific to the individual patient to support his or her unique needs.

Naturopath Medicine is a distinct system of holistic, primary healthcare whose focus is to treat the whole person by addressing the root causes of illness, rather than just suppressing troublesome symptoms. Therapeutic modalities such as herbs, homeopathic remedies, nutritional supplements, individualized diets, bodywork, and pharmaceutical medications are utilized to promote, physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual well-being.

Jackson is available to see acute walk-in cases such as upper respiratory infections, digestive complaints, UTI’s, minor injuries, etc, but will refer to Urgent Care in the case of a true medical emergency. She may recommend nutritional supplements, herbs, or homeopathic remedies from the pharmacy’s extensive selection of professional-grade products, or prescribe a pharmaceutical medication onsite if necessary.

Patients can be seen on a walk-in basis during Dr. Jackson’s regular office hours in the pharmacy (Monday and Friday from 12-5pm). Appointments during pharmacy hours are available by calling 808-463-8730.

We encourage you to experience the exceptional, personalized service of Wailea Pharmacy. Our #1 goal is to ensure our customers complete satisfaction and overall wellness.

We’d be happy to handle your prescription transfers. Call or drop by and let us know. WE DO ALL THE WORK!

Top things to look for when shopping for supplements

We know our customers want to know how to choose a high quality supplement. At Wailea Pharmacy these are some of the things we look for that may be helpful when making your health care decisions.

Look for the CGMP on the label. That means the company adheres to Current Good Manufacturing Processes as regulated by The FDA.  That should be the bottom line. In fact it’s best to look for companies that exceed these standards and test for authenticity, potency and purity of both the raw material and the finished product.  Each part of the manufacturing process should be scrutinized to ensure consistency and safety.

Look for companies that adhere to Pharmaceutical industry standards even though the Natural Products Industry is not regulated to do so in some situations.

Look for independent testing of the raw materials for microbes, heavy metals, chemical solvent residue, pesticide, herbicide and fungicide residue.

Oils should be tested for rancidity and fish oils for dioxin and PCB’s

Look for expiration dates.

By the way, here are some products that have very stringent standards that we carry at the pharmacy. Stop by the store and we will be happy to consult with you. We know your health is important to you and serving you is important to us.
